We have developed our own ecommerce
engine which consists of several parts:
- Shopping Basket
- Secure Checkout
- Online Content
The Entry-Level Shop Ecommerce Engine contains
the following functionality:
catalogue that is used to quickly search for the desired products, before
adding them to your shopping basket.
When using the catalogue, a customer can search for a product using
Keywords, Categories or Brand names.
Adding a product to your shopping basket will automatically reserve that
product, preventing any other shopper from purchasing that product. You can
only purchase items that are in your shopping basket.
Customers can enter their Credit Card details into the
secure checkout, while making a purchase. All details entered into the checkout
are automatically be encrypted and digitally signed to prevent tampering
during transmission over the Internet. Once the details have reached the
server, they will be stored in their encrypted form where they cannot be

administration tools to add, update and delete products from the system, as
well as setting current stock levels and updating orders.
Several online reports are available, including
listing the orders placed and low / zero stock items.
Certain restrictions have been imposed on the
entry-level Web-Store. These include Forced Banner Advertising that will always
link back to Web-Focus Solutions web site. The product database has also been
restricted to 100 products. These restrictions can be removed by upgrading the

Flash 5 interface to the shops
Dynamically driven be the back-end solution, as well as offering solutions for
Digital TV and Soon to offer a 3G Interface to the new mobile phones.
Unlimited Product Database
This will allow the
e-Commerce engine to store more than 100 products in the database.
Personalised Banner Advertising
This facility will
allow the forced banner advertising to be removed, and can generate extra
income to the site by selling the advertising space.
Up-sell and Cross-sell products
functionality installed on the site, when a customer is browsing the site for a
particular product, other related products will automatically be displayed
along side the main product, providing the customer with more opportunities to
add products to their basket and hopefully purchase them. An administration
tool is also provided to manage the linked products.
Customised Search Engine
Currently the site will
search on Keywords, Brands and Categories, but with this administration tool
installed the navigation can be dynamically changed to search by Size, Colour,
Type, or one of several other categories.
The gift selector can be added to improve the speed of
searching for products. Combining this with the Customised Search Engine will
create a customised gift selector, where the criteria for locating gifts can
be automatically changed.
Promotions / Special
This facility will allow special offers (single item
reduction / multi buy offers / best-sellers) to be added to the site. Once a
promotion is added they are dynamically placed on the site. An advanced special
offers engine is also available that will allow customised promotions. An
administration tool is also provided to alter the promotions and add or remove
products from a promotion.
Delivery Charge Engine
This facility will allow delivery charges to be calculated depending upon
what products are in the shopping basket. If this facility is combined with the
special offers engine, then the delivery charges can be altered depending upon
what promotions are triggered. An administration tool is also provided to alter
the thresholds for delivery charge.
If an affiliate partnership is created, and a customer clicks through
to the site, the web pages can be co-branded and the catalogue altered to
display the co-branded products first. If this module is purchased with the
Promotions engine, then extra promotions (for the affiliate only) can be
created, giving customers extra discounts. An administration tool is also
provided to report on the number of click through and the number of purchases
made from a click through
Customer Order Tracking
Once a customer has placed an order, they can check on the status of
the order using this facility. This facility can also be linked through to a
delivery partners web site (E.g. Parcel Force) so the location of a parcel can
Email Engine (Automated Emails and
Mailing List Management)
This facility can be used to automatically
generate emails informing a customer that their order has been placed, or that
a product is back in stock etc. If a customer has registered with the web site,
and has requested to receive a Newsletter, then the mailing list manager can
automatically send out emails informing all registered customers of new
promotions on the site or general news and info about the site.
A customer browsing the shop
can inform the site of personal details (in a registration form), which can be
remembered when they next return to the site. E.g. what their favourite product
types are, so these are always displayed first when performing a search.
Consumer Relationship Marketing / Preferencing Engine
This is a specialist engine that uses Artificial Intelligence to promote
products, related promotions and change product placement depending upon the
customers browsing behaviour. It draws it's conclusions by analysing data
captured by the personalisation engine and combines this with the browsing
behaviour. Reports can be generated and the data analysed to determine if a
certain promotion has been successful.
This facility will allow a customer browsing the shop to alter
certain characteristics of the shop, e.g. change the background image, location
of the navigation bar etc, creating a more personal shopping experience.
Site Layout Manager
This administration tool can be
used to alter the look and feel of the web pages on the website, allowing new
templates to be created and dynamically added. This allows new site designs to
be implemented without the need for employing specialist IT skills to maintain
schemes can be used to allow repeat customers to collect points for each
product they purchase online, and can later be redeemed for a free gift /
e-Voucher / as part payment for products in the shopping basket. Future loyalty
schemes will allow the use of SMARTCARDS for storing points.
Electronic vouchers can be sold on the site
and gift wrapped before being emailed to a recipient. Once received the
recipient can redeem the voucher for full / part payment of products on the
Complete Stock Management System
stock management systems can be upgraded to integrate with your current product
suppliers and fulfilment houses, providing each party with a facility to
automatically update stock details on the site.
If an existing stock control system is in place,
then the web site can be seamlessly integrated with the existing system without
the need for manual intervention.
Back Office Accounts
We can integrate the e-Commerce engine direct into your current
accounting system, Sage, QuickBooks, or even your in house development, basicly
any account system we can integrate the e-Commerce engine.
